I began taking NAC after a friend suggested it to me when I had to take Tylenol for a toothache, and I was concerned about having to take the Tylenol over several days. I did a lot of research before buying NAC and they seem to do a lot of good for a lot of health issues. It is said NAC can help protect the kidneys and liver, especially when taking some meds.
But I also found at least a couple of other benefits. I am now sleeping through the night, when before, I would wake up at least a dozen times or more. (I’m a very light sleeper.)
Before I started taking them, I was having really horrible sinus headaches, which I’ve rarely had. I noticed that after taking NAC, I haven’t had any sinus headaches. I’m also not getting stuffed up in the night, which before, it was constant.
The NAC also seems to help with some throat issues, possibly with the thyroid.
I take 600 mgs in the morning and 600 mgs at night. I do find that it’s better to take them with food.
I am not a medical professional and can only speak from my own experience, but I will continue taking NAC as long as I’m able. I hope they don’t take them off over the counter. Before taking them, please do your research with legit sources in order to make an informed decision.

This was recommended for my daughter to take to help her focus better in school and so I tried it too. I woke up one morning after taking this for 3 days and my brain fog was gone!! I was awake and not tired. I slept better and refreshed! I’m so impressed! Now the whole family is taking it everyday.
I randomly came across a thread online where a lot of people mentioned that NAC helped them with their OCD/anixety, and as someone who has generalized anxiety and has been on medication for it (but want to try something more natural) I gave this a shot and after ONE dose (2 pills/1200mg) I noticed a SIGNIFICANT decrease in my anxiety (specifically the rising wave of impending doom in my stomach). It was weird because these pills don’t make you feel good and it was only after several hours when I was like “Huh…I haven’t felt anxious all day.” So don’t expect to “feel good” on this stuff, but (at least for me) it has (so far) taken my anxiety and whooped its butt. I’ll update my review if my anxiety comes back or if I notice any negative side effects. I’ve only just started it so anything could happen but right now I’m ecstatic and just crossing my fingers that this isn’t temporary and I can take this instead of xanax every day as it is more natural. I can’t speak to the efficacy for OCD as I do not have that, but for generalized anxiety, it’s already something that has brought me relief!
My son and I were unknowingly exposed to toxic mold for a few years. He developed Tourette’s/tics and I developed CFS. After going to numerous doctors, we are pretty much on our own as far as detoxing and healing our bodies goes. NAC is highly recommended on all the blogs I read so I tried it the past month. I keep it in the fridge, hoping to avoid other reviewers saying black spots grew in the pills. So far, no black spots. I did notice eczema flares after I take the NAC and extremely itchy skin. So I stopped taking it. Tried it again and same thing. Happened about 5 times so I don’t think my body likes it or not sure. My son has trouble swallowing large pills so he chews this…lol and says it’s extremely sour. He’s been taking it for 2 weeks, once a day to start, with activated charcoal 2 hours later. Although his tics haven’t improved, I do notice his moods have been better. He’s less depressed and I see him laughing with his friends more and more each day. I will keep him on it and I will try again for myself next month.

I had a traumatic brain injury from a truck hitting me while riding my bicycle. My chiropractor recommended nac to help with my recovery. It did help with the brain fog and headaches. Of course I sought other modalities but the nac helped!
Another good product by NOW and higher than most mg per capsule.
